Giovanni Battista Trotti, Sierist brown ink drawing, 16th century
Giovanni Battista Trotti, called il Malosso (1555–1619)
Original Old Master Drawing – Pen and Brown Ink with Wash
Exceptional late 16th-century drawing attributed to one of the most important painters of the Cremonese school – Giovanni Battista Trotti, known as il Malosso.
The work depicts a deeply expressive elderly bearded saint or prophet in a kneeling pose, rendered with characteristic Mannerist anatomy, dynamic linework, and subtle ink washes that create rich depth and volume. It reflects the influence of Bernardino Campi and the Northern Italian that Malosso masterfully developed in Cremona and Parma.
