Intimate half-length devotional image of the Suffering Christ. Thorns crown his head with blood trickling down forehead, cheeks and bare chest; a single tear on the left cheek. A heavy black chain drapes around neck and torso, paired with the mocking cane and green-blue cloak. Dark uniform background. Characteristic expressive brushwork with thick impasto in blood passages and visible coarse canvas texture.
Good and stable condition for its age (c. 500 years) with fine mesh craquelure, yellowed natural resin varnish and minor traces of incense smoke.
